After spending all of my working life in education I am delighted to be Chair of Governors at Peel Hall Primary School.
Although I do not live in Salford, I was Head of a local secondary school for many years and so know the area well and I am committed to improving the life chances of the young people in the area. I have extensive experience of being a governor in several schools and see this as an opportunity to share my time and skills with the staff and children at Peel Hall.
As a mum myself, I know how important it is for a school to be a happy place as well as a place of learning and the Governing Board will work hard to ensure that your child receives the education they deserve.
My name is Mark Thornley and I am the Vice Chair at Peel Hall Primary School.
Peel Hall is a very special place to me; I initially started as a Teaching Assistant at Peel Hall in 2006 and then, through the graduateteacher programme, trained to be a teacher at Peel Hall. I then left the school and returned as Deputy Headteacher in 2014.
I am now the Headteacher at Heathfield Primary School in Bolton.
It is a privilege to be part of the school's continual journey of school improvement and to use my knowledge and experience of school leadership, pedagogy and curriculum design to support the strategic direction of the school.
Hello! I'm Roxy Roscoe, the Parent Governor and EYFS Governor for Peel Hall Primary School. I've lived in Little Hulton for 9 years, and I'm the proud mum of a wonderful daughter who also attends the school.
I moved to Manchester in 2013 to do my degree and masters degree at the University of Salford, and ended up settling down here and making it my home. I applied for the governor position after my daughter started school, as I wanted to give something back to the local community and have my voice heard when it came to important matters that affect us all at Peel Hall.
I've had a lot of different work and life experiences over the years, and learned a lot about a variety of societal issues, and I currently run my own small jewellery business so spend a lot of time communicating with a plethora of people from all walks of life. I'm also passionate about my animals (three cats and a dog), rock and metal music, and different types of crafting!
My hope is that I can use my knowledge and skills to help support the board in any way I can, whilst also learning new things along the way.
As a neurodivergent and disabled parent with a child who lives with Autism and ADHD, I believe I can provide somewhat of a distinctive and helpful viewpoint to the board when it comes to important decisions that affect current and future pupils at our school.
Hi I’d like to introduce myself, I’m Farah Furnival, one of Peel Hall Primary School’s Parent Governors.
I have had this role for many years and I have really enjoyed it.
I have five children, my eldest being 15, and we have had our full primary school journey with Peel Hall with two of my children still attending.
I work alongside my husband running our rental properties in the local area, as well as running a number of hotels / apartments in Greece, Cyrus and Blackpool.
I have lived in the local area my whole life so understand our families and community very well, the past few years I have seen many changes in our school but I see a very bright future ahead. I am extremely proud of our children and staff at Peel Hall, we are now in an amazing place and cannot wait to see what the future holds.
I have worked at Peel Hall for a very long time and I am very proud of the school, pupils and parents that I get to work with and amongst every day.
I was elected as the Staff Governor by my fellow colleagues and now endeavour to bring my knowledge of teaching and learning, our pupils, their families and the community to the Governing Body.
