Peel Hall Primary School

British Values

At Peel Hall, we promote fundamental British Values of democracy: rule of law; individual liberty; mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

This is done as part of pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development which equips them to be thoughtful, caring and active citizens in school and in wider society. Our wonderful displays around school show some of the work which has been done.

British Values are discussed and taught either in classroom lessons or in school assemblies. For example, at Peel Hall, we ensure all children have a voice through our School Council – known as Pupil Governors. The children see the democratic process in action by holding class elections to choose their representative. The Pupil Governors then attend regular meetings; help to support local charities; represent the school at important events and suggest ways to improve their school.
