Represented School

This year, Peel Hall have entered more sports competitions than ever before, more children have represented their school in sport than ever before and more children have taken part in their first inter school sports competition than ever before!

We've had many successes. In football alone our Y5 girls team won our cluster final and finished 3rd out of 48 Salford teams, our Y5/6 team came runners up in their first entry into the Worsley Schools Champions League (remaining unbeaten in 2017), and our Y3 team remained unbeaten in the league at the Manchester United tournament and finished top.

In Golf, our Y3/4 team won the Salford Tri Golf Finals and represented Salford at the Greater Manchester School Games. The team finished 5th, which is amazing as there are nearly 1000 primary schools in Greater Manchester.

At the Salford Quadkids Athletics Finals, our pupils came 1st in the female sprint, 1st in the male distant run, 1st and 2nd in the male throw and 2nd in the male sprint. Brilliant individual achievements.

Peel Hall have been represented in over 30 sporting activities and competitions to date, and that figure should be nearer to 50 events by the end of the school year. It was exciting to see the pupils at our school competing in a whole new range of sports and activities, including some that they have never played before. We have had great fun and learnt a lot.

Young Leaders & Sports Crew

Throughout the year, pupils from Year 6 have been learning how to become good sports leaders. Every child in the year group has been on a four week programme during 'Life Skills' where they are acquiring the skills to coach younger children in sport. Although the pupils realised how tough this was at first, they have all delivered a fun, safe sports session with children from our Year 2 classes.

To compliment our Young Leaders programme, we have put together a Sports Crew. It is the role of the Crew to offer younger children the opportunity to take part in sports sessions and inter school competition during lunch time. The Crew are also given other sporting responsibilities, including looking after sports equipment, delivering safe fun sports sessions and refereeing sporting activities.

Visits & Events

In preparation for the Peel Hall Gymnastics Team competing in the borough finals, we had a visit from an Olympian before Christmas. World and Commonwealth Gold Medalist and Olympic Bronze Medalist, Beth Tweddle, came to speak to our gymnasts to give them advice and answer questions on her career. Beth was very complimentary about our squad and the children were inspired by a sporting star!

Peel Hall are looking to host our very own Sportsperson's Dinner later this year. Keep your eyes open as there will be more information to follow!
